What is "Voile en tête"?

« Voile en tête » is a European size nautical demonstration, organized under the aegis of "Sport en tête", elected by the European Union of the Physical and Sporting Activities in Mental health.

The objective is to gather from 20 to 25 sailing ships, each one representing a psychiatric hospital or an institution in medico-social matter. The crews, composed of patients, doctors and trainers, are brought to exchange their knowledge and meet in water at a period of a one week cruising, marked out in competitive tests.

If the sporting vocation of the demonstration is most visible, the regatta is nothing but a pretext of a human adventure open in the marine environment, new space likely to have a therapeutic interest.

Today, as Marseilles presents an image of a city open for the Sail and the Mediterranean marine environment, it is quite natural that an important establishment specialized in the Mental health, such as the hospital Edouard Toulouse, has been organizing the 15th edition of "Voile en tête" in 2006.

This federator project required certain financial means, logistics and humans. It was held from the 18 till September 24, 2006, between Marseilles, Ciotat, the islands of the Frioul, Martigues and the Calanques.
